Plain water can get boring, making it hard to meet your hydration needs during the heat of the summer. Try upgrading your water with hibiscus flowers, which can often be found in the bulk spice section of your natural health food store. If you can’t find them, you could also use a few tea bags of Tazo’s Passionflower tea. Hibiscus adds depth of flavor, extra nutrients including vitamin C, as well as a beautiful pop of fuchsia color. This effervescent treat will keep you satisfied & help you beat the summer heat. Enjoy!


Hibiscus Orangina



Preparation Time: 12 minutes

Makes: 2 Servings


2 cups purified water

2 tablespoons hibiscus flowers

1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice, to taste

1-2 cups of sparkling mineral water or purified water

2 oranges, sliced

Ice as needed


Boil water in a 2-quart sauce pan. Turn off heat, add hibiscus, cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and cool hibiscus tea and place into a glass mason jar or pitcher. Top with juice, mineral water, orange slices and ice and enjoy!
